History of International Exchange Programs

Year Activities
1999 Book donation project launched targeting Chinese universities.
2001 Began inviting library and other staff of universities targeted for book donations to Japan.
2004 Launched the Sasakawa Cup National University Japanese Knowledge Competition project for Chinese university students.
Began inviting those with outstanding results to Japan.
2008 Launched the Sasakawa Cup Japan Perception Essay Contest project for young people in China.
Began inviting those with outstanding results to Japan.
2014 Launched the Panda Cup All-Japan Youth Essay Contest project for Japanese youth.
Began inviting those with outstanding results for visits to China.
2016 Launched the Sasakawa Cup Essay Contest to Learn about Japan through Books project.
Began inviting those with outstanding results to Japan.
2018 aunched the Sasakawa Cup Japanese Studies Essay Competition project for undergraduate students majoring in Japanese language at Chinese universities.
Began inviting those with outstanding results to Japan.
2022 Changed the name of the book donation project to “BOOK ENVOY PROJECT” and expanded the scope of donations to Asian countries and other countries around the world.
